Remembering one of the greatest leaders India has seen.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee

In the years following the birth of independent India, the political landscape of our country had seen few remarkable and a few not so remarkable leaders who took the prime minister’s office. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the only prime minister who had made a mark of his own on the psyche of India and it’s citizens. Never before did we have such a charismatic PM who not only talked but walked the talk too. He was a rare mix of a poet, an orator and a strong statesman with a conviction that our country was much more than, what it appears to be on the surface and we the citizens have all the responsibility and the resources to make it better than it was in the past. The upward economic momentum which was built during the term of P.V.Narasimha Rao seemed to be going down after his term because of the lack of stable governments and A.B.Vajpayee did a great job in stabilizing that downturn and making it grow steadily again. The most noticeable thing during his stint as the prime minister during the 1999-2004 term was his uncompromising stance on improving relations with Pakistan. He started many initiatives and even invited the then president of Pakistan to India for peace talks. He always acted like this wise elder brother, who put up with the evil antics of his spoilt younger brother hoping he’ll get the realization sooner or later. Even in the parliament sessions, it was a common sight to see opposition party members admiring and tapping their tables in agreement to the honest statements he’d make and the poems he’d recite. With his sad demise yesterday the Indian political system has been left with a blank space which can never be filled. He made India and it’s citizens fall in love with the prime minister when Indians only knew how to respect their prime ministers. He’s a benchmark on what a leader should actually be like. Sure, we can pray for his soul to rest in peace but more than that- I believe his soul would be more happier if, we the surviving citizens of India continued working towards the India which he dreamt of building. We have a greater responsibility now, to take care of our nation and nurture and create more leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. Remembering Vajpayee ji with few of his famous lines: हास्य, रुदन में तूफानों में, अमर संकट, बलिदानो में उद्यानो में, वीरानो में अपमानो मेंसम्मानो में, उन्नत मस्तक, उभरा सीना पीडाअों में पलना होगा, कदम मिलाकर चलना होगा !!! #AtalBihariVajpayee #PrimeMinister #IndianPrimeMinister #Tribute #Legendary #RoleModel #Visionary #India #Leaders #Leadership
